Who I Am & My Journey
I’m Matt Gallant, a photographer, web designer, and visual storyteller with a passion for capturing moments in ways that feel fresh, authentic, and impactful. My journey into photography began in 2017 with a simple yet powerful impulse—a feeling that I wanted to create images that people had never seen before. Armed with my first camera, a Canon 70D, I dove into the world of photography with curiosity and determination, experimenting relentlessly to discover my unique style and voice.
From the very beginning, I approached photography as more than just taking pictures. For me, it’s about storytelling, emotion, and perspective. I wanted every shot to evoke a reaction, to spark a feeling, and to leave a lasting impression. This mindset has driven my career ever since.
Over the years, I’ve explored nearly every corner of photography, gaining experience across a wide spectrum of industries and styles. I’ve captured the delicious intricacies of food, photographing for clients like Rare Butcher and Bowl of Cream, highlighting the texture, color, and artistry of each dish. My product photography work for companies such as Gly Med Canada and Quiltations Fabric allowed me to combine precision with creativity, presenting products in their best light while ensuring they connect with viewers on a visual and emotional level.
I’ve also worked extensively in corporate and event photography, capturing business headshots, engagement shoots, corporate events, and tech start-up launches. My experience includes working with St. Clair College as an event photographer, documenting dynamic student and college events, as well as collaborating with Axis Health, photographing health practitioners and their businesses to create visuals that communicate professionalism and care. I’ve partnered with recruiting agency E3 Works to photograph corporate events, capturing the energy and professionalism of business gatherings.
Sports photography has been another exciting avenue in my career. I’ve covered hockey organizations and other athletic events, seizing the fast-paced, high-energy moments that define competitive sports. Additionally, I’ve worked with Bros Entertainment, a lighting and event company in Arizona, to document live events and create visually striking content that highlights both technical skill and artistic flair.
Beyond just capturing moments, my work is about understanding the story behind each subject—whether it’s a product, a person, an event, or a team—and translating that story into a visual experience that resonates. Each project has challenged me to innovate, to adapt, and to continuously push my creative boundaries, building a diverse portfolio that reflects both technical mastery and artistic curiosity.
From my first Canon 70D to now, my journey has been fueled by a relentless curiosity and a deep desire to create visuals that stand out. I don’t just take photos—I craft experiences, capture emotions, and tell stories through my lens. Every project is an opportunity to connect, inspire, and make an impact, and I continue to chase that feeling that first sparked me into photography back in 2017: the thrill of seeing the world in a way others have never seen before.
